Tasmania’s most innovative engineers and engineering projects have been named at the 2025 Engineers Australia Excellence Awards – People and Projects at the Hotel Grand Chancellor Hobart overnight.
“The Engineers Australia Excellence Awards honour the outstanding achievements of engineers here in Tasmania and the vital contribution their work makes to our community and beyond. By recognising these local leaders, we also inspire the next generation and strengthen the future of our profession,” said Joanne Moses, General Manager Tasmania Division.
Local winners will go on to represent their division at the national awards’ gala dinner held at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf Sydney on Thursday 13 November.
The QuayLink Project is to be delivered in several stages and will upgrade East Devonport Port to facilitate trade and tourism growth over the next 50 years. It is the first major wharf upgrade by TasPorts in 30 years, with the first critical package being the Terminal 3 Marine and Dredge Works (T3 Works). Following an extensive competitive design development and evaluation process, a joint venture between Hazell Bros Group and Brady Marine and Civil was awarded the T3 Works, with a scope including a new berth pocket, 137-metre new wharf structure, remediation of
50-metres of existing wharf and reclamation area at an existing berth for the new Spirit of Tasmania terminal.
Delia has more than 27 years of experience in geotechnical assessment, design and feasibility for underground excavations. Specialising in shaft excavation, she provides technical leadership, ground support assessment and quality assurance. Delia has taught at the University of Tasmania and contributes to the engineering profession as a panel member for Engineers Australia accreditation and as a principal assessor for RPEQ disciplines in mining.
Josh is a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer and Design/Project Manager at pitt&sherry with more than seven years’ experience, specialising in bridges and transport infrastructure. He combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication, leadership and commercial management skills. Josh has a proven track record managing complex projects and advancing engineering practices in Tasmania and beyond through his proactive problem-solving and dedication.
